Safety and liability: follow these steps at your own risk and only as far as your device’s manual allows. Switch off and unplug before reaching inside. Read the full notice at the end of this guide.
First, copy or print?
Print a page from a computer, then copy a clean page. If only copies show the problem, the issue is the scanner. If both do, it is in the print engine.
Lines on copies only: clean the glass
- Clean the main scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- If you use the document feeder, also clean the narrow glass strip it reads from. A speck of correction fluid there causes a line down every page.
- Use only a slightly damp cloth or a cleaner the manufacturer approves. Never spray liquid directly on the glass.
Faded or patchy prints
- Check the toner level on the control panel. Low toner is the most common cause.
- Check toner saving or draft mode is not switched on in the print settings.
- Check the paper type setting matches the paper loaded.
- Damp paper can also print unevenly, so try a fresh ream.
Toner that smudges or rubs off
If toner rubs off the page, the fuser may not be bonding it properly, or the paper type setting may be wrong. Check the setting first. If it continues, ask for service, as fuser parts should be handled by an engineer.
Lines or marks on every printed page
Repeated marks in the same place on every page usually point to a worn or damaged part, such as the drum. These need an engineer.
If you rent or lease from Sindoh Malaysia, ask us how servicing is arranged under your plan. Request a service visit rather than opening panels you are unsure about.
