Safety and liability: follow these steps at your own risk and only as far as your device’s manual allows. Switch off and unplug before reaching inside. Read the full notice at the end of this guide.
Why it matters
Rollers, drums and fusers wear with every page. Left too long, worn parts cause jams, streaks and faded prints, and eventually a breakdown. Servicing on schedule keeps the copier reliable and print quality consistent.
What a technician does
Depending on the machine and its page count, a service visit can include checking and replacing worn parts, cleaning the paper path and scanner, updating software and checking print quality. Internal servicing should be left to a qualified technician.
What staff can safely do
- Wipe the scanner glass and the feeder’s glass strip with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Load paper squarely, fanned, and below the fill line.
- Keep paper in its wrapper in a dry place.
- Replace toner when the machine asks, following its on-screen steps.
- Report unusual noises, error codes or repeated jams early.
Always follow the device manual, and switch off and unplug before reaching inside to clear paper.
