Always heard TONER when it comes to photocopier? Unsure what is toner and how does it works?

Toner is often known as dry ink or powder. However, toner isn’t actually ink as ink is a pigmented liquid. Toner is a plastic based powder which is negatively charged. While in photocopier, toner is stuck on positively charged beads and will be stored inside a toner cartridge. As the toner-coated beads are rolled over the drum, the particles will find more attractive towards the positively charged ions on unexposed areas on the drum’s surface compared to weakly charged bead. The same particles are then drawn towards the electrostatically charged paper. The plastic of the toner will melt once heat is being applied which fuses the pigment on to the paper.
